Here's the deal. Dealing with people and their problems was never my 'thing'. But, when Hero asked me to after talking to me for a time and me helping him with some of his own tech issues, I decided to try it on for a while again. This is for my rants. When people piss me off, this is where it will go. No names will be said, but because it will most likely be people here, whoever did it will know I am talking about them.
Anything said in this thread is not meant as an insult, but merely me venting anger. If you will at any point take offense to any crude language or insults (whether directed at you or elsewhere), I urge you not to read this thread any longer. Here is where I will let lose and I do not want people complaining because they know I was talking about them when I called them (for example) a 'fucking retarded wad of shit who can't understand anything intelligent'.
IN SHORT: do NOT take ANYTHING in this thread personally. If you do, I do not want to hear about it. You were warned.

OK. Time for the first of many. This one is for...I suppose Kayito-san. Hero mentioned that he had his part in it too (though being new to running a forum and not being a designer for the web I don't see it as his fault).
Organizing the forums is a pain in the ass. Seriously. You can't just move shit around and put them where they are supposed to go. You have to screw around and move them first into the categories and then into where they are supposed to be within the forum tree. It didn't take long because there were not many, but COME ON! If there were many more, it would have frustrated me to no end. How hard is it to allow the system to move them directly to where they are supposed to be rather than screwing around with it and having to do each one multiple times? The admin sections are not by any means user-friendly.
Oh, and another thing: the new post notification does not cascade up. Any post in the child forum of a child forum doesn't cause that forum to register new posts. If you post in any third-level forum (The welcome/goodbye forum, the cosplay and such forum, or any of the subforums in the EZ section), looking at the main index will not help, because it will not inform you of new posts! Would it really be that hard to make it cascade up? It is amazingly annoying. There's not even anything I can do to fix it, because nobody has the authorization to alter any of the codes. Hell, none of us can even look at them!
I suppose it might actually help if the forum were upgraded, but that never seemed to happen. SMF 1.1.4 is released and someone was supposed to upgrade the forums, but if you look, we are still at version 1.0.9. could SOMEBODY please do SOMETHING about that? Or, I suppose, since Kayito has user id 1, I suppose HE has to do something about it. I suppose the ONLY thing good I see in the forums themselves (not looking at the people within nor the content of the forums) is the fact that, amazingly, they validate. Hold on, NO IT DOESN'T:
Error Line 2, Column 1: Missing xmlns attribute for element html. The value should be: http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml. <html><head> ✉ Many Document Types based on XML need a mandatory xmlns="" on the root element. For example, the root element for XHTML will look like: <html xmlns=" http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" lang="en"> Oh, and through no fault of his own, the w3c would still not validate because of Shaan's ordering of her text attributes. To center, it needs a div. To color, it uses a span. Because color is used outside of the center, the div is not allowed by specifications to be where it is. Though that is not his fault, and I am sure Shaan wouldn't know this otherwise I would most likely not be tech support, since Hero *should* and probably would be more inclined to give it to her due to their relationship.
At least the CSS validates? Oh good. It actually does.
