Long hard journey to succseed
|
Welcome to the Literature and Writing forum, a community made by and for writers, poets, and critics. This is a place where anyone and everyone can share their works of creative writing without fear of rejection or being put down. A place to receive constructive comments on improving your writing and a place to start or engage in literary discussion. The golden rule (not a requirement) is that if you would want feedback and/or criticism on your work, so would others. So please help with commenting on others writing or discussions. This community always needs more critics and readers to help make the Literature and Writing forum a better place, so be willing to read others' works as well as posting your own. Besides, the more you do so, the more you will be noticed, and thus your own work will attract critics as well.
What kind of work can be posted here? Pretty much any form of creative writing: Poetry, short stories, novels, screenplays, even the lesser known forms, such as anecdotes or fables. Your poetry should all be in a single thread (except if you have some amount of distance between them, like two weeks) but longer works, such as novels, can have their own standalone thread.
That said we welcome all people to share their own work and contribute to the environment with constructive critiques, even if it's something as simple as pointing out something you liked about the piece.
To help keep Literature and Writing a place of integrity, there are rules to ensure everybody has a good experience in the Literature and Writing forum of Hero's Vision.
----- L&W Forum Rules -----
Plagiarism - Is not acceptable. If you use another work and claim it as your own, or use it without credit, you will have an official warning sent out. Depending on the seriousness of the plagiarism, you may not be allowed to post in LW at all.
Thread Limit - Your poetry should all be put into one thread, as should your short stories and other short literary works, with the exception that you may create another thread if the old one is past the second page. Novels are long enough to be placed in a thread alone. This rule is to ensure that the forum doesn't get too full of any one persons work, crowding out other threads, and helps to make the forum equal for everyone.
Polls in Threads - People will say what they think of your work in your thread. They don't need polls to do that, and a poll saying 'Do you think my work sucks? Yes/No' is just an irritation to most people. However, a poll in a discussion/debate thread is usually alright.
Spelling and Grammar - Be sure to run your piece through a spell check before posting. Grammar and Spelling doesn't have to be perfect, but at least show that you've tried.
THREAD TAGGING - All posters are to add a tag before the title of your thread stating what type of work it is. This helps members to see the type of content or type of work within the thread without having to look inside and find out. Here are the following tags, if you wish to use them, or you may simply write it out if you wish.
Poem/Poetry.................................................... (P) Novel/Series.................................................... (N) Short Story...................................................... (SS) Lyrics/Musical Verse......................................... (L) Fan-Fiction Series............................................. (FF) Essay.............................................................. (E) Autobiographies, Biographies, personal recalls.... (NF) ("non fiction") Screen plays, scripts........................................ (SP) Debates.......................................................... (D) Literary Discussions......................................... (LD) Philosophy...................................................... (PH)
If I've failed to list something, improvise with the obvious pattern of tags and contact one of the mods (listed at the top of the forum) to add the tag. (If you don't follow this rule, you will be notified to please edit the tag in, and if the problem continues, subsequent thread locking may be in order.)
Off-site Listings - To keep activity somewhat limited to RR, we request that posters transfer all writings by typing or copying/pasting (ctrl+c, ctrl+v) their works to posted threads instead of linking to an offsite reference (usually Deviantart).
RESPECT! – Hopefully this shouldn’t be a problem, but rudeness won’t be tolerated. You can be honest without being downright disrespectful to someone. Also, please don’t spam up some ones thread by chit chatting with your friends. Respect the authors wishes, which brings us to another part of this rule.
ALL AUTHORS NEED TO SAY WHAT TYPE OF COMMENTS THEY WANT IN THEIR THREADS..... What does this mean? Before you proceed to paste your work in the thread, say what type of comments you want. For example:
1) I’m open to any type of comments 2) I would like thorough critiques (which may be commenting on grammar, spelling, structure, theme, etc) 3) Make up specific areas you want comments on or whatever you wish but remember it must be reasonable or you won’t get any comments at all
***Notice: The mods will be enforcing this, which means that if they see anyone merely saying “I LIKE IT!” when an author has asked for THOROUGH critiques, the post will be copied and then deleted and sent to the poster who will be asked to respect the authors wishes.***
Now if an author fails to state what type of work they want in the beginning, it can be automatically assumed that they are open to any type of critiques. They can later on change their mind but the mods will not be scolding members who have posted before the author changed their mind.
Mature Content - RR is a PG-13 site. If you want to post a work that you are not sure if its passable, please contact a mod. There are things that maybe a little more than PG-13 that MAY be allowed but the mods would have to approve. Keep in mind that there is a difference between mature content and pornography. If you are unsure which your works would be classified as, please PM a mod! We are trying to keep this forum a place of integrity, and therefore any threads containing pornography will be locked and deleted, and a warning sent to the author.
Posting someone else's work - You cannot post work for another person, or work you have not written yourself. If you have a friend who wishes to share work, but does not have an HV account, you cannot post it for them. Instead, ask them to make an account and post it themselves. If your friend has an HV account, but still doesn't want to post it (perhaps they don't want people to know they wrote it) we will allow it only on special basis, but you MUST PM one of the mods with your reasons.
***If you have questions about anything outlined here, or about anything in the Literature and Writing forum, or simple questions, please feel free to ask them in this thread, and one of the staff members would be happy to answer.
We look forward to working with you! Thanks!

Hello to all of the lovely artists of Hero Vision. I am your new moderator, feralkitten19. You may call me Kit Kat, or Heather. Depending on your preference. I am very happy to accept this position and I welcome all of you to write and / or comment on another's work. I ask you nicely, to keep the integrity of this site, please follow the rules that have been set up. They are there for all of our benefits. And as we are all writers in some way, I ask that you respect everyone in the same way you wish to be treated. We all know how hard it is to put yourself out there. So enjoy, and have fun! I look forward to reading your works!
~Heather~
