Anime and Manga Section Guidelines
Mission Statement
The Purpose of Anime and Manga Section is to provide a space for both Otakus, new Fans to anime and manga, and just general fans to discuss, debate, and provide insight into the world of Japanimation and manga. But most importantly the Anime and Manga Section is a place to have fun.
Rules
Below are the rules of the Anime and Manga Section.
Prohibited Topics/Post
Unassociated Versus Topics Example: "Goku vs. Naruto", because both characters do not share a common denominator (other than being anime/manga characters) the debate would be pure favoritism, which would not foster any actual debate.You can debate characters from the same series, by setting up the environment and condition under which the battle would take place.
Favorite Anime/Manga/Character Topics These topics do not foster any sort of discussion about the characters, anime, or the manga. Instead create a topic about the particular series that you like, and talk about that, you can talk about the characters, etc in that topic. Also if you are new to the forum you can post your favorite anime/manga here: Introduction Thread.
Hentai/Yuri/Yaoi Pictures in Topics Anime and Manga Section is open to all members of HV. And since HV has many young members we cannot allow people to post pictures in this section. You can discuss yaoi/hentai/yuri titles; however, we ask you to keep it clean and avoid any graphic language.
Spamming Spamming in topics, or creating a topic that is solely meant to spam the forum is prohibited and will be locked and deleted. If a topics starts to become a spam topic the Anime and Manga staff will lock the topic, and PM the original author of the topic. If the author was not responsible for the spam they will simply be told that their topic got locked for spam.
Section Ettitque Standards
These are expectations that the staff has set out for anyone who post in Anime and Manga. Breaking Ettique Standards can earn you a warning, so make sure read them.
Opening Posts// You're opening post will starting off your topic and set the tone for that entire thread, that means you want to start it off properly. Opening post that start off with only a brief statement will be modified by a member of the Anime and Manga Staff. If it continues the member will issued a warning.
Incorrect:
"What's your fav samurai anime? I love Kenshin!"
Correct:
"There are a lot of samurai animes out there. Which has been your favorite so far? What did you like the most of it? Is there something you didn't like?
Posting// Posts must contribute to the discussion. If a thread asks you why you like something, say it. It can be short but don't make it a phrase. Ocassional spam comments are allowed, but as long as you add something to the discussion.
Incorrect:
"Samurai Champloo rocked!!! It totally kicked ass!!!
Correct:
"I loved Samurai Champloo. I think it has a unique style of art and the hip-hop music gave it a nice touch."
Large Pictures in Posts// Pictures should not be excessive large. They tend to stretch the thread and can make loading the difficult for members that come to the forum on a low connection speed. If a image(s) is found to be too large a member from the Anime and Manga Staff will delete the image and notify the member that posted it.
Series Specific Topics// Not all topics need to be a specific instance in a particular series or character profile, you could just want to talk about the series in general times. In order to accommodate for this without turning the forum into a spammalot members are allowed to create topics about series. As long as those topics start off with a strong opening post.
Grammar// English is the official language of AnimeLeague, that means all sections will be hosted in English. Along with this is grammar. Excessive lack of grammar is prohibited and post may be deleted by a member of staff. Netspeak or 1337 is also prohibited in Anime and Manga, since not many know how to use it.
Spoiler Tags// Spoilers tags are for the benefit of everyone. If someone has not reached that point of the discussion then, that person will be spoiled. Some like it but others don't. We want everyone to enjoy to the fullest the anime or the manga that is being discussed so please, use spoiler tags when needed. It doesn't have to be in the whole post, just to cover the spoilers.
Incorrect:
It was awsome when *character's name* got killed by *character's name*!!!
Correct:
It was awsome when *character got killed by *character*!!!
Double Posting// If you forgot to post something and you were the last person to post in a topic edit it in, do not double post. If you have an important announcement to make and you were the last person to post in a topic still edit in. We understand that this may suck because it won't bump the topic up so that people can see your announcement, but it makes it things simpler for everyone. Double posting in general just makes a thread look really messy so we want to avoid that.
Anime and Manga Forum Procedures
Notification// Moderators of the Anime and Manga staff will notify members via PM when a topic is either on the verge of being locked or is locked, moved, or merged with another topic.
Locked Topics// When a topic is locked by a member of staff the member (who's topic was locked) will be notified via PM about the lock. The thread will then be deleted from the forum 1 day after it was locked. This is done so that the forum is cluttered with locked topics.
30 Page Thread Limit // Thread that have reached their 30th Page will be locked and members will be allowed to restart a discussion about that thread topic.
Rule Revisions // Every two months the Policy and Reporting Moderator and the Head-Moderator examines the current rules in A&M and discusses possible changes (if any). The next evaluation is set to begin in December. PM the Policy and Reporting Moderator or the Head-Moderator if you have any questions or ideas.
